In the vibrant 1980s, four ambitious friends from Rio Grande do Sul embarked on a flavorful adventure that would forever change Brazil’s culinary landscape. Leaving their hometowns for the bustling cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, these gauchos honed their skills in the art of hospitality, working tirelessly as waiters and maître d’s in the finest steakhouses.
The Birth Of Sal e Brasa
As years passed, our four friends noticed a growing hunger for exceptional service and mouthwatering flavors. In 1993, with hearts full of determination and minds brimming with innovative ideas, they took a bold leap. The first Sal e Brasa Steakhouse was born in São José do Rio Preto – SP, a testament to their unwavering gaucho spirit.
What’s in a Name?
“Sal e Brasa” – Salt and Fire. These essential elements of perfect barbecue became the cornerstone of our identity. But we didn’t stop there. Our founders envisioned a steakhouse experience like no other, offering a diverse range of options that would soon become the talk of Brazil.
Expanding Horizons: From São Paulo to the Northeast
Sensing an opportunity to share their passion with more of Brazil, the Sal e Brasa team set their sights on the Northeast. Salvador welcomed the first Sal e Brasa Steakhouse in the region, marking the beginning of a flavorful conquest. Soon, the irresistible aroma of our perfectly grilled meats wafted through Recife, Natal, João Pessoa, Aracaju, São Luis do Maranhão, and Maceió.

As our reputation for excellence grew, so did our family of brands:

- Avenida Brazil Brazilian Steakhouse by Sal e Brasa: Our first dip into the American market, in none other than the great state of Texas. This concept is in partnership with the existing Avenida Brazil Steakhouse family-owned brand out of Houston, Texas.
Bringing Gaucho Tradition to the World
In 2019, we returned to our southern roots, opening in Curitiba. The following years saw us spreading our wings to Brasília, Fortaleza, and beyond. But why stop there?
2024 marked a monumental milestone as we took our first international step, introducing the Avenida Brazil Brazilian Steakhouse by Sal e Brasa to the heart of Texas, USA.
